As you most likely already know it can be hard to find a job as a felon in today’s world. Don’t lose hope though because there are companies out there that will hire you. In the below article we will answer the question does UPS hire felons.
Does UPS Hire Felons? Answers Here!
Short Answer: Yes, UPS does hire felons for a number of different entry level positions including package handlers, driver helpers and seasonal positions. This does not mean they will hire all felons, it only means that they do not have a blanket policy against hiring felons.
First hand experiences
A few points to keep in mind when you are applying for jobs, this includes UPS and other companies. A company may employ a person with a felony but that will not hire everyone that has a felony. UPS will take into account many factors when considering you for a job/employment.
A few of these factors may include:
- Length of time since the completion of your sentance
- Type of felony conviction or specific charges
- If you have multiple felonies
While we were researching information about UPS we did uncover some some interesting information about UPS and their practices regarding their hiring process.
One source we found had this to say about UPS and felons:
“They hired me as a felon (grand theft) and gave me full time benefits and everything I could ever ask for. Amazing…. ”
Source: Glassdoor
Another source we found also was very encouraging and said:
“When I was working as a PO [Parole Officer] in Indianapolis I often referred my guys there and they usually hired them. It may be part-time, but they pay pretty good (it’s warehouse work) and have a great tuition repayment plan. It seemed like they were always hiring because it was hard, physical work and a lot of people didn’t stay very long. So give that a shot.”

Background Check Limits
It is important to understand that some states have laws regarding how far back a criminal background check can go. Here are the laws.
Twelve states do not allow any felony conviction information older than seven years to be reported.
- California
- Colorado*
- Kansas*
- Maryland*
- Massachusetts
- Montana
- Nevada
- New Hampshire*
- New York *
- Texas *
- Washington*
(* exceptions based on pay/salary)
Some states will not report court cases where you were found NOT guilty: Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Alaska, California, New York and Michigan.
These states will report unlimited numbers of years back of felony convictions and also report NOT guilty verdicts: Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
The official policy from UPS
We also spoke with a UPS company representative and was told that they do not have a blanket policy against hiring felons and that each applicant will be considered on a case by case basis. This is great news for felons.
If you are a convicted felon applying for a job at UPS you will most likely have the best luck by applying for part time warehouse positions. This is a labor intensive job that will be nothing but hard work day in and day out. Remember though you will be getting your foot in the door and this will lead you to much better positions and possibly into management.
Will ups hire u if u are guilty of possession of a finance device ( a gift card ) someone sold me a bogus gift card and I got caught with it at a store
If i have identity theft and mail theft its probably a no huh? ive sionce then been to rehab and completed it though…

If u have retail theft on your background buts its been 3 years will ups Hire u it’s not a felony it was a misdemeanor
I HAD A CONVICTION AND A FELONY 20 YEARS AGO. MY STEP MOM ACCUSED ME OF MOLESTING HER DAUGHTER . MY DAD WAS ASKING HER FOR A DIVORCE AND THIS IS WHY SHE HURT ME AND BECAUSE SHE CAME ON TO ME WHILE I WAS IN THE SHOWER SHE WALKED IN AND TOOK HER TOP OFF I WAS ONLY 15. THIS HAS CAUSED ME SO MUCH TROUBLE AND ANGUISH. TO BE CHARGED WITH A SEX OFFENSE. HOWEVER, I WENT ON WITH MY LIFE I WAS IN THE NAVY FOR 9 YEARS . AFTER THE SERVICE I HAVE ONLY HAD TEMP WAREHOUSE JOBS BUT I LOVE THE MANUAL WORK. IT KEEPS ME IN SHAPE AND THE DAY GOES BY FAST. I HAD TO START OUT WITH UPS AS A PART TIME TEMP DURING HOLIDAY SEASON AND IT TOOK 3 YEARS TO GET A FULL TIME POSITION. AMAZON ALSO HIRED ME. I AM NOT A REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER. KEEP TRYING AND INSTEAD OF APPLING FO JOBS HANDLING MONEY APPLY FOR WAREHOUSE JOBS AND KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND WORK HARD AND BE ON TIME AND BE CHEERFUL AND UPS WILL GIVE YOU A CHANCE. I WORKED PRIOR FOR AMAZON FOR YEARS AND WOULD GET LAID OFF BUT THEY ALWAYS HIRED ME BACK IN 2 MONTHS. HANG IN THERE. IT DOES GET BETTER BUT WE ARE UNDER A LOT OF XTRA PRESSURE AND HAVE TO TRY HARDER BUT IT IS WORTH IT. BE SOMEONE WHO EMPLOYERS CAN FORGIVE AND FORGET. WHEN THEY GIVE YOU A CHANCE DO NOT BLOW IT. STAY CLEAN AND STAY STRAIGHT. A GOOD JOB IS WORTH IT.
I’m so glad I saw your post. My fiance is having trouble getting hired in some where. He has a felony 5 of sexual misconduct. Do you think ups will hire him. He’s a good guy and a hard worker. I hate seeing people with this offense being pushed aside because of a mistake or something that they have gotten blamed for. I wish there was something I could do for him and any other person out there that has this struggle.
will ups hire a one time drug offender (felony) as a delivery or shuttle driver
YES JUST DON’T BLOW A DRUG TEST. STAY CLEAN AND LOOK CLEAN AND PROFESSIONAL.
I have an aggravated assault and battery- serious bodily injury felony that is 8 years old. Do you think I have a chance at a job in USPS???
