State of Ohio Jobs
The State of Ohio has restrictions on state-sponsored positions for those that have felonies, but it is not impossible to land the job! Many Ohio state jobs (and many private sector jobs) will consider your candidacy based on the nature of the felony and the job setting. For instance, if a convicted felon had previously committed a crime involving theft or fraud, then they would be excluded from jobs that include management over state property.

General Labor Jobs
Broadband Express, LLC – Cable Installers – Multiple position throughout Ohio – While no experience is necessary, paid training is provided. Upon completion of training program, Technicians will work independently within the community providing exceptional customer service. Earning potential between $600 to $1,000 a week based on on productivity efficiency.
When you apply for this job, you will be asked to answer questions regarding your criminal background. Answering “Yes” to the criminal background questions will not automatically bar you from employment. A criminal background check will be conducted following any conditional offer of employment. Only those crimes which are substantially related to the position you are seeking will be considered.
Triple D Communications, LLC – Various Positions throughout Ohio – – Some labor jobs may be open to felons depending on the nature of the crime and time since completion of sentence.
Prime Communications – Columbus, OH and other locations – Cable Technician – Individuals must not have any alcohol or drug-related convictions or suspensions within the past three years. Individual must be able to pass a drug and physical screening as well as background requirements.

Arc Staffing Solutions – Springfield and Huber Heights, OH – Various jobs, most positions require felony to be at least five years old. Some positions only require the felony to be non-violent though.

JPMorgan Chase – Statewide – Felonies must be over 7 years old.
Account Control Technology, Inc – Mason, OH – Call center for debt collection. Some positions will consider felons if offence is older than 5 years.
Transportation Jobs

Miller Truck Lines, LLC – Columbus, OH – Class A CDL Driver. No positive drug or alcohol test within the last 10 years. Felony convictions, within the past 10 years will be subject to review.
Parts Authority LLC – Cleveland, OH and other cities nationwide – Responsible for delivering auto parts and providing excellent customer service.
Ineligible to drive for Parts Authority if a DUI or other drug-related driving violation and/ or any driving-related convictions in the last seven years (e.g. hit-and-run, felonies involving a vehicle) are found on your driving record.
Hospitality & Restaurant Jobs
IHOP – Most IHOP restaurants are felon friendly.
Other Types of Jobs

Background Check Limits in Ohio
It is important to understand that some states have laws regarding how far back a criminal background check can go. Unfortunately Ohio does not limit how far back an employer can do a background check. Here are the laws in other states.
Twelve states do not allow any felony conviction information older than seven years to be reported.

These states will report unlimited numbers of years back of felony convictions and also report NOT guilty verdicts: Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
